Point of reference for tourism on the coast in Tuscany, here we find the perfumes and beauties typical of the region and famous all over the world.

The area is particularly frequent throughout the year for walks and excursions in the nature thanks to the Mediterranean climate with the presence of the sea. On the Etruscan Coast and in its vicinity there are some of the most beautiful natural areas, oases and protected Italian reserves: remember among all the Tomboli di Cecina, well 15 km of dense vegetation where many species of plants and animals coexist to form a unique eco-system, the Oasis of Bolgheri and the Coastal Park of Rimigliano.

Crystalline sea bathes the white beaches of Vada and Castiglioncello, along the coast alternate sand and rocks, behind which there are vast and relaxing shady pine forests.

Where the coastal area ends, large fields are cultivated mainly with vineyards, in fact, in the hinterland of the area the Wine Route extends. This territory has a long tradition of good taste for both food and wine, some bottles of red are known and appreciated internationally: just think of the DOC wines of Bolgheri, Montescudaio and Val di Cornia.

The typical products of the area can be bought and tasted in the same producer countries. The historic villages, many of Etruscan origin, scattered throughout the territory offer enchanting views of the rolling hills cultivated to the blue sea.

Traveling along the coast and inland it also happens to come across historical finds from the Etruscan period, in several villages there is an Etruscan Museum that displays objects, weapons and pottery found in the area of ​​competence. Then there are the Necropolis, more or less vast, left to witness the passage of this ancient people, still partly mysterious, fused with the Romans.

Soul of the area is the sea. The Tirreno near the coast takes on a splendid turquoise color, offers unique shows in the light of dawn and sunset, makes the mild climate and healthy air. The feeling of well-being, given by the influence of the sea and the quality of local cuisine, and relaxation, thanks to the beautiful landscapes of the natural areas, which you breathe on the Etruscan Coast is unmatched in Tuscany.

The beach has also been awarded the Blue Flag award for this year to mean the quality of the water and the surrounding environment.

In San Vincenzo, Vada and in the Gulf of Baratti you can relax on white sandy beaches, the color becomes darker in the areas of Cecina, Bibbona and Castagneto Carducci. Pebbles and cliffs alternate with sand in certain areas of Baratti, Castiglioncello, Livorno and Quercianella.

Even the rocky beaches have their charm: there are small coves and secluded bays accessible to all through natural paths through the vegetation.


Parks, nature reserves, protected areas

Although the Etruscan Coast extends into a densely populated territory, 20% of its area is covered by natural parks, oases and protected areas. The green areas are kept uncontaminated thanks to the intervention of local administrations, citizens and tourists. To maintain the evocative atmosphere of the area it is important to respect the delicate natural environment and the eco-systems it houses.

Bolgheri Oasis: not far from the sea, it is a wet and marshy area. It was the first area of ​​wildlife refuge to have been established in Italy, the marshes are populated by many species of migratory birds while in the surrounding pine forests are deer, fallow deer and hawks.

Orti-Battagone Oasis: herons, pink flamingos and storks are the animals that can be seen in this marshy area, with brackish waters, near Piombino.

Parco della Magona: near Bibbona, it represents another typical biogenetic forest, as well as the Tomboli di Cecina. There are many species of plants and animals that live in perfect harmony with each other following a fragile and delicate natural eco-system. Along the nature trails that run inside it is easy to come across deer, deer, mouflons and squirrels.

Rimigliano Park: it is a coastal park with dense vegetation within the territory of the municipality of San Vincenzo, there is one of the most beautiful beaches on the coast.
